Contributors
Contributing to the Plant Collections project requires the following steps:
- Create an account with Google Base.
- Generate the appropriate bulk upload files for Google Base.
- Upload your data
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 as information about your institution and collection changes.
We are endeavoring to make steps 2-4 as simple as possible by providing software that will connect with your database, generate the necessary bulk upload files, upload the data to Google Base, and re-synchronize the data as necessary.
Consumers
Anyone may view information uploaded to Google Base by the Plant Collections project participants, and including basic searches of the information on a web site should be trivial thanks to the widely adopted standards that are being used by Google.
We are also producing a portal that will provide an enhanced experience for users of the Plant Collections data.
